Mentoring

Everybody has a story to tell, and it’s a great privilege to facilitate the telling of a good story. The process varies and takes whatever form is appropriate for the individual need. The samples below include:
• creation of a first rough draft • working from a first draft with further expansion and editing • one-on-one mentorship throughout the writing process Mentorships are generally conducted over three or four months for a total of ten to fifteen hours, and a flat rate is charged for reading, feedback and conversation in any form -  face to face, via Zoom or via email. Writer and mentor jointly decide on the amount of time appropriate for the project, and the intervals between contact. Please email for current rates.
I have taught Creative Writing at the University of Adelaide and Flinders University, and conducted mentorships privately, for members of the South Australian Writers’ Centre and for PhD candidates at the University of Adelaide.
Please note: I do not accept all manuscripts for mentorship. If applying, please supply a sample chapter and an outline of your project, and indicate the specific areas in which you want help.
Mentoring philosophy: to help you tell your story well, in your own voice.

Anne Bartlett's unique style of mentoring blends her outstanding writing skills with a gracious, sensitive, confident honesty. Quietly, yet efficiently, Anne taught me how to energise and empower my words - a crucial skill in more effectively connecting with my reader. I will be forever grateful for her professional and personal expertise.  ROSALIE FOLLETT
I wanted to let you know that the novel you so kindly helped me with back in 2007.... won the People’s Choice Award last Sunday at the Port Noarlunga Readers’ and Writers’ Festival. ... It had sold out the first print run and we have had more printed and they are still selling…..absolutely incredible! People have been asking me to write a sequel... MARGARET VISIGLIO
Thanks to...Anne Bartlett for her editing. What can I say to adequately show how appreciative I am for her input? She not only endured many months of editing the entire book, but at the same time pushed me to write my autobiography as the wonderful story she knew it could become...       HOA VAN STONE
Though this is greatly changed from the original shape, it owes much to you for motivating me into the effort and for the basic substance which you have no doubt painfully extracted from the tapes... JOHN SMITH

If it wasn’t for Anne’s prodding, this book never would have come about...

This could have been the size of a phonebook, if it wasn't for Anne. I owe her so much. STEWART BOGLE
